VISA AND CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
Qatar issues different visas for different purposes. Unless you are a citizen of a visa-exempt country, you must obtain a visa before traveling to Qatar.
1. Visitor visa
- Family Residence Visa: Expatriates earning at least 10,000 QAR per month and with six months’ seniority with their company can apply for this visa to bring their relatives to Qatar. This visa is granted on the basis of employment in Qatar, requiring a valid QID and a residence visa from the employer.
- Family Visit Visa: Expatriate workers can bring their families to Qatar for six months. The visa, initially valid for one month, can be extended up to six months for immediate family and three months for other relatives after a medical examination. The fine for overstaying is 200 QAR per day.
- Visit Visa for GCC Residents: GCC residents of professions approved by the Ministry of the Interior can obtain a one-month visa on arrival, renewable for a further three months. This visa requires appropriate documentation proving the profession and costs 100 QAR.
2. Tourist visa
Citizens of authorized countries can obtain a visa waiver on arrival in Qatar without any prior formalities. All they need is a passport valid for at least three months and a confirmed travel ticket, either for their return journey or for their next destination.
- For nationals of the regions/countries listed below, the exemption will be valid for 30 days from the date of issue and will allow the holder to spend up to 30 days in Qatar: Andorra, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bolivia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, French Guiana, Georgia, Guyana, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Falkland Islands, India, Indonesia, South Africa, South Korea, United States, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Macau, Macedonia, Maldives, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Russia, Rwanda, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Surinam, Thailand, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vatican City and Venezuela.
- For nationals of the regions/countries listed below, the exemption will be valid for 180 days from the date of issue and will allow the holder to spend up to 90 days in Qatar on one or more trips: Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Seychelles, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.
3. Visa with Hayya platform
Thanks to simplified visa requirements, Qatar has become the most welcoming country in the Middle East for international visitors. They can now enter Qatar either with a visa on arrival, or via an online application, depending on their nationality.
